I added some to tray one and got eighty percent yikes so i hsve added a little to the two middle trays to raise it to thirty five fromm nineteen with no water how much will adding the eggs raise it?

Amy, if I were you, I'd start without water. You can always add it if needed later. I don't know how easy it is to control humidity by adding water to rings or trays. I use a cup with a 1" x 3" piece of sponge, add water to the cup with a piece of aquarium airline tubing and a syringe. Very easy to get precise (as precise as needed) with the sponge.

i will be setting eggs tomorrow and i have heard adding eggs will add humidity but how much i just dont know
your initial setting will not add any humidity, when the chicks start to break the shell with their pips and zips is when the humidity bumps up.
you can read the article below and see if my 65 year old memory is still functioning.

I have not read any of his stuff. Will have to check it out. I find it truly amazing how many of us there are on this site. Chicken related: I'm at day #7 with 28 eggs in a home made incubator. Last nights candling showed 18 with good veining. Will check again in a couple of days. I need to get busy and build a second brooder.
