UCDavis just put out an alert about a death in Redwood City:

Dr. Bradley wants everyone to be aware that CDFA staff has just released confirmation “that one chicken taken to a veterinary office in Redwood City died of VND.” Staff members also report that “at this moment we are not aware of any other cases in Northern California but we are very actively investigating.”

No it's not. Redwood City is like 20 minutes from me. Way too close to home.

I used to live in the Bay Area and know a lot of people there with chickens. I'm in the foothills now. I'm worried.

I'm very interested in learning where this chicken came from, and hoping it's a one-off situation, and not the result of migratory birds.
