Newest batch in an Improved Incubator

Ok --- well, hatch day was supposed to be tomorrow but it seems everyone wants to come out early. My first pipping chick was very early this morning.... I have named "her" CRACKER (i think the last name BARREL would be ok too) .... here 'she' is [has to be a girl cos men are always late!] ....

Additionally, I started to hear chirping from some eggs still in the incubator this afternoon and now there are 2 more eggs being pipped that have shown up. In the meantime I've finally gotten CRACKER to drink water as well as peck at a bit of food.

Cracker in her safe-place away from Sweetpea who would likely yank her by the leg (Sweetpea is male and not good with chicks!)

Was up ALL NIGHT with babies hatching -- in the end I ended up with 6 babies although there are still 5 eggs in the incubator I'm not sure will hatch. I also had to MOVE today. I'm soooooooooo tired currently my brain isn't functioning properly. I managed to sell a golden pearl and a little yellow chick to a lady & her hubby -- she is ecstatic to have her little bumblebees with legs (and a big bag of 30% wild game starter). I gave her the 2 that were making the most NOISE ...... beep beep beep beep beep beep... WAY too much beeping but now I'm left with another golden pearl and it keeps climbing to the top of the blankies and beeping loudly driving me to pull all my hair out of my head one strand at a time!!!!!
:barnie ............... ............... ................. must sleep .............

@Vampiric_Conure @WoDia ............... chick #6 got his butt stuck in the egg and just could not get out for whatever reason, and his little eyes were way too big for his head - something wasn't right --- I was upset and asked God to just let the little fellow die quick and quiet -- next morning he was gone with his wee eyes closed. Poor baby.

Thanks guys....

I sold 2 to a woman and hubby who are gonna be wonderful caring parents .. so now have "3 little chicks" left (plus my 2 grown ups in their own 'cell block' :D

My 3 little ones remaining are in a tiny box for now.... One yellow one has a knarled claw but I'm giving it the yeast nutrients (lots of B vits in that) and the claw seems to be starting to unfurl -- It always has a grumpy look on it's face so I've named him or her "GRUMPY PANTS"

That breaks my heart 😞 Makes me want to cuddle mine even more. Glad he didn’t have to suffer. Sweet little one.

Yeah :hit ... I just remind myself that in nature there would be loses too.

Do you have suggestions for 'Grumpy Pants' knarled claw? I've been giving him/her nutritional yeast flakes for the B vitamins .. the claw isn't in as much of a fist as it was, but it's still knarled. Is there any other thing that can be done to help it?

I’ve had that happen. Here’s what I did…. I cut out a piece of index card to fit to the bottom of the foot, straightened the toes, and gently taped (some kind of med tape) them to the card. I made a tiny shoe. I let him wear his shoe for a few days, then checked the toes. It worked. If after a few days, it hasn’t changed much, you may just need to have him wear it longer. It’s tedious to accomplish since the foots so teeny weeny, but will be well worth it. The alternative would be to just see what happens. If he’s trying to straighten his toes at all, he could work it out. In my experience though, the tiny shoe has worked. ❤️ the video…. so adorable. Grumpy Pants seems to be getting along quite well ☺️
