Newish to chickens

Hi everyone, I live in Florida and started raising chickens last year. I repurposed my tool shed after Hurricane M and now have 12 newly hatched babies, about 12 hens and one rooster and 7 ducks. I have a question about house chicks. I have a chick who is the last remaining of a group of four I purchased. She wants to be with me and cheeps a distress cheep when not. The other (2) flocks chase her away. I don’t want a house chickens for a variety of reasons...what do I do? Harden my heart and let her to the wolves. (Other chickens). She sits on my shoulder in the house, and comes to me when she hears my voice outside.

Welcome to BYC. What happened to the other chicks that she was with ? Sounds as if she is now imprinted on you and thinks you are Mom.

one died a couple days after coming home, the Other two got out of coop and were killed. Dog, cat or hawk

that is what I thought! But I work long hours and have a hunting dog who is inside. I did order a cage (I guess i already decided) . I want her to be safe.
