We got some new chicks today. There are 18 Rhode Island Reds and 2 Black Australorps, 20 in all. If you have any tips in raising them please comment!

I got some good news and then some bad news. The bad news is that we lost one two days ago.

The good news is that the rest are growing nicely.

Our chicks were moved today to there new coop. We lost another one about 2 weeks ago to a dog. Our chicks and chickens are fine now. We have a chicken named Emerald who was attacked by a hawk before we got the chicks but was rescued. She hadn't got back into the order with the "grownups" since her recovery so we are now trying to put her in with the chicks. I will try to give updates on them so check out this forum. If anyone wants to be friends with me please send me a PM so we can talk "chicken".

Also if any body has any tips for feeders I would appreciate them.

I'm so sorry for your loss :(, and I'm happy that your hawk victim recovered!

As for feeders, I just use conventional feeders for chicks, and if too many wood chips are getting in, I just move it up with some building blocks a little. For adults, we rigged a PVC pipe feeder for them.
