I have chick that hatched little over 24 hours ago with almost purely liquid bloody stool... can a new chick have coccidiosis? Should I go ahead and start Corid that young?

Thank you so much for any help!!! Here's a pic of poop.

Since the incubation period is eight days, I think we can rule out Coccid. I have no experience with this problem; I've never seen anything like it before (just admitting that right now)

My best guess is that the egg was infected with some bacteria that is now in the chick's gut. I'd feed a smidgeon of live-culture yogurt in hopes of bringing about some beneficial gut bacteria, electrolytes (1 tsp baking soda, 1 tbsp sweetner, 2 qt water, pinch salt) for rehydration and poultry vitamins, if you have them.

Good luck.

Thank you! So far today haven't seen anymore blood, but this morning was quite a bit on pad... I've never seen or heard of anything like that and I honestly am kinda surprised chick is alive and thriving... will keep watching, was just scared would infect the other 3 chicks from batch but so far all good

Can you post a photo of the chick too?
Is your chick eating/drinking o.k.?

Ok, maybe spoke too soon... but she's acting fine, eating and drinking, jumping around with the others, I don't know what to think....

I have never seen that in a chick that young.
What is she eating?
Are you giving anything like Poultry Nutri-Drench or some other vitamin mix that could account for the color?
Does her abdomen feel bloated at all?
Navel healed up?

I can say, IF I saw that in my brooder, I would begin treating with Corid asap.
Dosage is 1 1/2 teaspoons Corid powder or 2 teaspoons of 9.6% Corid liquid per gallon of water. Give for 5-7 days as the only source of drinking water.

They're eating chick starter, and started Corid in water last night, belly feels find and nothing on navel area, I just can't believe how much she's put out with no signs of issues at all

It's a mystery.
If you will, keep us posted on how she's doing.
