Newly hatched chick with Bloody Rear End

This little baby just hatched a few minutes ago. It is still attached to one part of the shell.
there’s a long thick thread of blood or bloody tissue on its back, down to the vent area or maybe umbilical cord area. Please see picture.
This is the first time I’ve seen this bloody stuff on a new hatchling. Is the chick ok?
I’m hesitant to go in and see exactly what’s happening but will if I need to...?

Unless there's a reason you can't open your hatcher, I'd quickly grab the chick out and see what's going on. It may be nothing worthy of concern, but bloody is generally anxiety-causing. If it's just hatching gunk, it may be no big deal - it's just not possible to determine from the photo. Good luck!

Took the chick out for a minute. Here’s a better picture. The shell had dropped off. The bloody gunk on the back is drying.

Well there didn’t seem anything for me to do and the chick seems fine. Dried off and in the brooder. Guess I’ll see how it is in the morning.

Hope your chick's doing well. In cases where it looks like the navel is unhealed or the umbilicus is bloody, I like to put antibiotic ointment (without pain reliever) on it to prevent infection.
