This one was the last to hatch. Momma got up off the nest for a second so I could see him coming out. He seemed weak and pretty dried out, like he had been at it for a long time. One leg was sticking out of the shell, but it looked wrong, like maybe it had been crushed or it was withered. Anyway, he made it out, but now can barely walk and seems to flip over on his back and struggle to get righted. Does he have spraddle leg? Did he get crushed in the hatching process? Or is it some sort of neurological problem? I tried the bandaid fix for spraddle leg, but doesn't seem like it was helping. Little guy has a will to live. I thought for sure he was a goner when I went out this AM, but when I got back, he had got himself under momma and was looking a bit more perky. Any help or advice would be appreciated. I am pretty new to chickens and this is my first "natural" hatch with a broody. This is also the broody's first time, so we are a pretty inexperienced team.
