Our chicks just started hatched as of yesterday - Just had one hatch that seems to not be right =( I'm wondering if its call for alarm or not -- During her/his hatch, the chick did have some complication, Size of chick, position & hard shell... didnt assist too much as I know they have to do it on their own - so all I did was crack the egg on one side a lil so when the chick pushed, it could properly push out of the egg & it did rest on its own.

Now the issue is, that there is a bulge underneath where the Yolk gets sucked into the body, its not major, major, but enough I'm a lil worried. This is the first chick to have this issue out of 7-8 that have hatched so far. Chick is fairly large and didnt have much space inside the egg - Is there something to do - or just wait and see what happens? Still has what looks like a cord attached.

Anyone with ideas... heeeelp

I've got it in a lil box under the light, so it doesn't get pestered or if it does pass away, then it's not with the others... friend said it's life & it's just a chicken... but still - they're just babies no matter what and it's sad =( -- Hoping she/he makes it, being it's a LARGE chick be nice to see how it comes out --- Mahogany Russian Orloff / RIR Roo cross... *crossing fingers*

There's not alot you can for little chicks like that...some live and some don't! Lets keep our fingers crossed!

Just wait. Its good you got it seperated so the others dont peck at it. If it continues to get active and is acting normal put it back in with the others. They need each other.
