I'm definitely doing a lot of research first. My family goes through a minimum of 3 dozen eggs a week. I'm looking for a variety of egg producing. I also have friends who are more than willing to take eggs off my hands if we happen to have a low week of egg eating. I'm in the process of researching exactly how I need to build everything. Changing my mind and redoing over and over. For that size flock I would argue you only need fair layers, does every family member need 1 egg per day, day in and day out? Do you buy a dozen eggs every other days for your household? Please review https://livestockconservancy.org/index.php/heritage/internal/chicken-chart
and determine your actual needs as these are living breathing beings. And then totally jump in blindly. Have a preconstructed home for them as they grow faster than you can imagine.
