in my experience...pit bulls arent as dangerous as they are stupid. my mother in law gave us a puppy for christmas a few years ago..this dog could not be taught a thing...this dog was the most destructive and annoying thing ever..it finally got blown away after chewing through a metal chain and hopping the fence into my neighbors yard..then she gave us another..totally my fault for saying yes, but this dog was supposedly a trained adult..and it was the same except it bit a kid.
come to think of it..maybe its my mother in law! at any rate, it soured me on dogs as a whole anyways. ill stick with cats!
If this was any other breed of dog, it would never had made any kind of news. Heck, a maltese can run loose, kill chickens, and attack a child (not that the pits attacked the kids) - is that ok? ANY dog can be a threat, no matter what breed. I personally don't care if it was a pit, a lab, or a toy poodle; if it was running free and threatening me or my animals, it's all the same - JMHO
(no, I don't have a pitbull, but I know a few that are very nice dogs)...
Prey drive does NOT equal child-killing dangerous dog. That is an absolutely ridiculous connection to try and make.
PS- As the PROUD owner of four rescued pit bulls and pit bull mixes, I can assure you that they're very intelligent, easy to train, and eager to please their owners.
You don't always hear about child deaths every week from pits, they just stick in your mind because the media makes such a circus out of them.
The CDC lumps together dogs which cause the most deaths into one group. The breeds are not listed in any kind of order and are lumped together to make one statistic. Mixes, Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, and Presa Canarios.

Ditto! Just because a dog kills birds, does NOT mean its a child/adult killer.
My Saint, Daisy Mae, is the sweetest, gentlest dog..Super friendly to ANYONE... (or i would NOT hve her)...but man...let her get in my yard when the birds are out! She chases them and grabs thier tails and wings and feet...and i'm chasing HER around yelling. Its NOT pretty..but she just wanted to chase the birds...it was FUN to her. Would she kill them? Yep...if she got the chance...because she doesnt know any better..BUT she DOES know that they ARE NOT HUMANS!
That being said..i know nothing about these pitts...maybe they are human agressive...BUT thats a WHOLE differant situation then a dog killing chickens.
