Or putting the carafe under the filter basket to catch the dripping coffee perhaps?
Note: I haven't done this since we bought a dispenser type coffee maker.

LMAO I did that last week. Got the roast and everything in there and went about my business...3 hours later I am wondering why I am not smelling my roast... Doh Dinner was late that evening.

I have a habit of forgetting if I filled the coffee pot resiviour, so I start pouring water in the already full water tank (they put the overflow in the back, and the floatie ball doesn't float). I'm not a morning person, so once say 6 cups of water have covered the counter and are now drpping on my feet I may figure it out....

I hate electric ranges.....I baked 2 beautiful awesome PERFECT pies, and took them out of the oven and set them on the range. Sure enough, wonderful hubby (he blames me) didn't turn the burner off, and within 5 minutes my pies were blackened a little more than slightly.
