Paper pieces are very sticky when they become wet and an egg is wet with an outer coating called the "bloom" when it's first laid. So you eggs will have paper stuck to them badly.

Nest boxes
In my nest boxes I fold a feed bag to fit (nest boxes are 1 ft³). When a bag gets soiled; fold a new one; pop out the soiled; pop in the new. Feed bags are a nylon mesh bag frozen poop just peels off in below freezing temperatures and just flakes off in summer when left out in the sun to bake and dry.

I would suggest straw bedding or pine shavings. I had first used shredded paper and it did stick to the eggs and was terribly hard to remove. Also, my hens started eating it. I don't know why, they had proper nutrition and were free ranged so they weren't bored. I also used an old piece of soft carpet. The hens seemed to like that but then the egg eaters came along and made a huge mess of everything.
