Niacin Deficiency Solutions

I think I have a niacin deficiency problem in my flock. Already lost 2 hens and have another one sick. Can't keep legs under her, will barely eat, comb&wattles grayish pink,ruffled feathers. Is my best quick soltion a water soluble vitamin solution in their drinking water? Maybe squirt some directly into sick hens mouth?

Chickens do not suffer from niacin deficiency like waterfowl do and none of the symptoms indicate it to be the source of the problem. However, a vitamin/mineral supplement is never a bad idea when you are grasping at straws and birds are dying. Dose each bird directly with something like Rooster Booster or Nutri Drench. Keep the water plain.

How old are the hens?
Are their legs paralyzed or is it just loss of balance?
Have they been laying eggs consistently or have they stopped?
Do they stargaze? (look up or around at nothing there)

I would give them the Nutri Drench directly and see if that helps.

I see you are in Tennessee? I think necropsies n your state are free or very inexpensive, so I think you should contact the state lab and have a necropsy done.

They stopped laying. The one that is sick now is 5 yrs old. One of them that dies was only 1 1/2 yrs old. No paralyzed legs, just legs are bowed out and can't hardly walk. No stargazing. Keeping to herself

Have you ever de-wormed them? If so, what did you use, and how much did you give?

No I've never dewormed them. What should I get and is it water meds?

Yes I've checked for both. Negative on the mites and lice.
