Hi, i have a small calling duck that is around 6 months old and suddenly could not walk one day. her legs when stiff and she had no movement in her feet at all. after some research i discovered she has a niacin deficiency and i brought some supplements and have been treating her with it for a about 5 days now. I'm just wondering what is the recovery time and the for it. i have her separated from the others and as she has been getting more movement i have given her time to swim by herself and small walks in the yard. i'm giving her around 25mg mixed with her water but because she doesnt drink all of her water i cant be sure she is getting enough or too much. i did a lot of research of how much to supplement her, but it was hard to find one. i could only get tablet form and i've been crushing it too into the water. im just wondering if i can get advised weather i doing it correctly?

Actually your duck needs around 125mgs of niacin a day crushed into a gal of water mixed well then put into what ever she is using for her waterer. usually they don't show many niacin deficiencies as an adult but that isn't saying that isn't what is wrong with her. Make sure the niacin your using is flush free and also not time released.

Is she laying eggs? if so she could even be depleted in calcium. Might be a good idea if she is a heavy egg layer to supplement with some calcium citrate also.
