The active material called Nicarbazin is used world wide as a coccidiostat in poultry. In the USA a drug called Nicarb 25, Carbigran (and other brands) have it.

The problem with this substance is that it makes the eggs infertile, and it has been used as a contraceptive to control birds population.

So be careful in what medicine you use for Coccidia.

Wow! Temporary or permanent infertility ?
Shalom Sou.
It is a Temporary affect. It affects the reproductive system only if it pass a threshold concentration in the blood (around 70 ppm).
It's affects the yolk deposit on the eggs, and the hormonal pathway. So as long as a breeder use it (+ a withdrawal period of 10-14 days) basically it is like a birth control pills in humans.

Thanks for the info, very intersting! I don't think people need to worry about this because here in the US, because this is not approved for use in laying hens, so we're never gonna see it in any of the feeds we buy.
