Hi fellow chicken lovers! I’m Teri from Oklahoma. I have a little flock of 16 chickens and a French Copper Maran rooster. They free range in a fenced half acre with my two Nigerian Dwarf goats. Sage, our Great Pyr, is their guardian and takes her job quite seriously! Although she is not above a dash through the flock to keep them on their toes.

I had chickens over forty years ago, but I have had geese, ducks and peafowl instead over the years. I just got a strong hankering for some chickens again and I’m having a blast. I love my girls!

Welcome, Teri! I'm sure you have plenty of great stories and knowledge to share!:welcome

Welcome here newbie. I'm so glad you got your flock . Aren't they goofballs? They make me laugh all the time everyone of them is so different from the next.
That's so cool they run with goats! Are your eggs chocolate colored?
Hi Happy Hen Lover! Thank you for the welcome. They do make me laugh! And the girls can be pretty smart, but the rooster is dumber than a box of rocks. Yes, the Marans’ eggs are very dark. I have three Maran hens, two copper, one black, and Freckles might be a cuckoo Maran, her eggs are pretty dark. The eggs are so cool, and most of my other girls are Easter Eggers. It makes for a beautiful carton of eggs!
