In the Brooder
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes, we are new to chickens and just started our flock at the beginning of September.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have 4 chickens right now.
(3) What breeds do you have?
We have all Australorps.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
We’re enjoying their unique personalities and watching them grow (so quickly). Our kiddos are having fun being involved in the process and caretaking.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
We like being outside as a family (hiking, fishing, etc.), board games, performing in local theatre, and creating our yearly Christmas light show.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We have four boys, two English bulldogs, and a pug. I work as a nurse practitioner, so needless to say, it has been busy.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I have been using BYC to answer many of the questions that we have had through the process of getting our chicks and starting our chicken journey - and can’t thank you all enough for sharing your ideas and knowledge!
