Niederrheiner Thread! All Colors!

Does anyone have pictures of the Niederrheiners they got from Murray? I am very interested to see the quality of them. I wonder where they got their stock from...
Would it be safe to assume that most of the rare breeds of chickens in recent years originally ordered by hatcheries as well as by private breeders are from Greenfire Farms who have been credited with importing many new and unusual breeds? You might ask Murray directly where they acquired their original breeding stock.

Here is mine at 5 weeks old. I ordered 5 and received 4, 1 of which died a day or two after arrival. Of the three survivors, two were obvious cockerels, which I culled. So that leaves this one as my last remaining hope for a pullet. I don’t really see any of her (?) cuckoo pattern at all yet. Not sure why that is, and I can’t remember how long it took to notice the pattern on the last LCN pullet I had.

I got these from Homestead Gardens, which I believe uses McMurray. I think they are both cockerels but he color distinction conversation is throwing me off as one is much lighter than the other.

Photos were taken of some of my mcmurray neids today. These are just the males (I think). Of the 15 I ordered (lost 2), 5/13.
I think 8/13 females. I should have tagged for chick color to learn about sexing them but didn't get a chance to while they had "chick down"

This is my mature neid from a breeder. The first two were when she was broody (she was a perfect broody, by the book) so her comb was lighter.

I finally got my LCN’s after stalking McMurray 🤣 I ordered 4 and somehow ended up with 5- 1 beautiful boy and 4 girls 🎉. I was able to clearly distinguish the male from female by 3 weeks old due to lighter colour and comb. They are 10 weeks now and he has long been unmistakingly a roo. They are the sweetest breed I have raised yet with Bielefelders then Australorps in close 2nd. Hoping the roo stays as sweet as they are known to be! 1 of the 4 girls is buff without apparent barring. Photos here are from 6 weeks old. Will add 10 week photos today!

I called to ask McMurray and they did not have the source information available. Might need to call and ask someone higher up?

This is my McMurray pullet at almost 7 months old. She started laying a few weeks ago and is laying quite well for this time of year. Her eggs are darker (medium pink) than I expected and not shaped like a torpedo the way my previous eggs from this breed have been. She is darker in color, too - more buff than lemon, really. I know nothing about the SOP, and her job here is just to be a pretty layer, so that’s fine with me. Just not what I expected. I am a bit disappointed in her size, though. The black pullet behind her is an Ameraucana/Barred Rock cross, and you can see how much larger she is at the same age.
