My prior experience as a sys-mod in '92-95+ at GLFN, My Mom at a small Telecom/data on company in Michigan from ~'91-98 & student assistant for UNT Telecom/datacom for a couple summers. One of my IRL friends who has been working (at least the last 10+ years) with hardware and software system maintenance and well as upgrades for server emergency repairs for big trucking companies or insurance companies I have a glimpse at what your referring to.

I've build enough PC's from scratch & tinkered networks & with servers too. :bow

Your no slouch.... And I've finally had a few nights to wander around your nifty site... Yeah. Not anywhere close to slouch/lazy/what-have-you.

Ahhh, that acronym has a few directions I could go with:
A) linux based software partitions
B) software for gawd know what app or other browser realted backend functions
C) human interaction stuff and other humans too
D) potentially all of the above.

(A) I recognized from my tinkering with linux mint OS, B) a hunch from being a lurker in Mozilla community, C) I cheated and searched for other acronyms, D) yeah I figured a logical choice given all other data)

I could definitely share some data points to your printer use spreadsheet regarding a several Heuletcrapard and Brother multi-function units from ~'95 to current.
The last 11/12+ years of seriously solid performance from the Brother models. I've been refilling the cartridge/drums for that many years. Annual use of an air compressor to blow the ba-jeebus outta the internals while sitting in the driveway..... I have found that the reman'd cartridges I have gotten off Amazon and the OEM that come with the printers will ALL last at least 5 refills with a gentle wipe of the wheel with a damp paper towel and then a blowdry from the air compressor before I refill the cartridge. One MFC model gave us well over 80K on the printer counter and the copier was 20K+ of service and I'd replaced the drum 2 or 3 times. Our current unit getting close to needing the drum replaced. As the years go by I'm having less and less need to "reinstall the driver suite for any brother model". Not so with the crapard models. It was a given fact that uninstall and reinstall driver suite was at least 3-6X a year depending on how hard you worked the darn thing. Butidigress.
