The Needles are great, too! Most times I've been there have been during Rally Week, so the roads were always packed with bikes. Cruising to the Needles was a favorite destination, and extremely curvy, lots of pull-outs, etc. Had to take it pretty slow. Favorite photo location: The rock formation that looked like, well, certain male body parts. Do you know it? There's another right behind Rushmore. LOL. Spearfish Canyon wasn't quite as heavily traveled (almost), but wider roads and fewer hairpins (none?) so we could cruise better. At the end of the trip, Deadwood - ah, perfect place to kick back for a bit of fun - then back down the Canyon. I have two brothers living in Custer, so never lacked for a place to stay during Rally.
Ya I went to I think 12 straight bike weeks starting in the late 90s.
Yes I know that rock :lau.
I loved Needles because of how the highway was. Switchbacks, pigtail bridge, tunnels through stone. What was that lake? Sylvia Lake or something like that.
Loved heading out for the canyon rides and having my newbie friends think I was crazy for strapping my coat on the bike. After sunset when those temps dropped and they were all in t shirts I didn't look so crazy anymore.

It's Sylvan Lake, part of Custer State Park. I got married there ;)

Sadly, no. But there is one just across the river in Lexington!
Was through there a lot to. Wish I could remember the farmers name/customer in the Richmond area. He farmed bottom land with corn, beans, and maybe wheat. Probably lost that in the cobwebs from being up all night a few times to many. I don't remember if it was in Lexington or Richmond but one or the other had a military school for boys back then too. It might have been brothers even. Trying to remember a name starting with and E think.

Nope, sorry. I know there are only 6,000 people in this town and 23,000 in the whole county, but I've only been here since 2013 so haven't met 'em all yet :D - especially those south of town where the bottomlands are. Anyway, it's a small world. Nice to meet you here!

Wow I didn't know you all were talking about missouri.
I know Richmond and Lexington. I grew up in Lafayette County.
The military school was Wentworth in Lexington.
