I may be getting 10-15 adult chickens from a neighbor. One's a rooster. How long would I need to quarantine them in their own space before letting them mingle?

Usually at least a month. Some people do more or even less but the typical recommendation is 4 weeks. Some do 6 to be sure.

Thank you! My family said absolutely not, so I'm going to try to get them anyway. But I did offer to be the guy's chicken sitter if all he's afraid of is not having anyone to care for them while they go on trips.

There's a whole barnyard mutt kind of thing going on. There's some NHRs, some tiny bantams or seramas, a mutt rooster, and all of the new mixed babies that were hatched this past summer. The rooster, though, is the prize I'm after. One day I was just sitting out here smoking with the coworkers, and we saw the tiniest child on 2 legs just help himself into the run. I started freaking out because, hey! There's a mini human going face to face with a rooster that's big enough to look him square in the face! But that rooster just went up to the kid and started cuddling with him! Like, what in the world is that!? That's a rooster that I want.
