Night sense disturbed by storm

Tonight a storm came through causing the evening to get darker much faster. As a result our Omelet door closed @ 7pm versus the usual “sunset” (approx 8:30 pm at the moment). When I went out to get food and water I saw that none had gone in. I grabbed each one and put them in but it made me nervous about our vacation at the end of the summer. Has this happened to anyone? How do I prevent this from happening in the future?

My doors have both choices.. either lumens or time to open and close.

Since weather is always highly variable here.. I've gone with the time setting.. which I have to change seasonally.

If your door has the time setting option.. you could always switch to that for your vacation time.

We use a Run-Chicken auto door. It can run off off the light sensor but you can still program a variable closing delay.

I have ours set to close 1 hour after the sensor feels it’s dark enough. Helps if there’s any stragglers or if the weather causes issues.
