night time preadator attack Help!

If you can see her organs she is not going to make it. That is a catastrophic injury from which there is no chance of survival. You need to put her down to save her from a horribly painful, lingering death.

As far as your raccoons go- they are the most challenging predator of everyone here. They are very clever and frequently are hard to trap. We all wish you good luck and happy hunting.

Sorry.

Don't give up on your hen...treat her wounds and keep her fed well and quiet. I have seen some catastrophic injuries on my chickens heal very well in time...even ones I thought would not make it.

As far as the racoon....only thing works for me is to wait up and shoot it! Have had lots of racoon "problems", they are prolific chicken killers...very clever and fast runners. A racoon killed one of my young cats last year!

They are evil.

Hope you get rid of it one way or another. Unfortunately, even though I have shot 3 of them so far, more always seem to come back eventually so best to keep your chickens up in a safe predator proof place at night.

Alright the fort is set. I double checked the cages for holes. Put extra hardware cloth on some spots. Found a trap from a friend and set it with some canned salmon. Will see who gets the last laugh. Payback for my RIR. Thanks for all the helpful Tips Mike:D
