Hi there! Sorry in advanced for the long story...
For the past several months now, I've been struggling to reintegrate one of my hens, Red, back into our flock of 7 hens and 1 rooster. She was separated completely after she was bludgeoned twice by a nasty rooster who we decided to rehome. Once she was recovered, I started the exhausting work of TRYING to reintegration her. She's been kept on one side of our divided coop which has a chicken wire door so they've all been able to see each other for 2 months. The rooster is overly amorous with her and won't leave her alone. Half of the hens are fine with her and the other half chases her everytime she's let out to free range with them. I let them all out to free range together everyday for about 2 hours after work and all day on weekends but for weeks now Red is so afraid of them that she does nothing but roost on their side of the coop until everyone comes back in to bed. She won't go outside the coop into the run, even when she has the coop to herself. When I carry her outside to free range she hides under the coop until they come to bully her and then she runs mad for the roost in the coop again. When the rest of the flock comes in to roost, they bully her off the roost. I'm afraid of finding her injured and having to isolate again. I'm at a loss and I'm determined not to rehome her and keep trying but wondering if anyone has any advice? Am I being to cautious? I know they need to reestablish the pecking order but I don't want them seriously hurting her in the process.

You didn’t say how many bullies there are, but I would put the bully or bullies in “chicken jail” for a few days, and let the “nice” girls all together. Then I would watch how they behave and if the mean girls are still at it, I would do it again.
There is probably one ringleader, but after awhile of this they will find themselves on the outside trying to get back into the pecking order.
