Nightshade and ducks, errrr!

chickboss,

glad you were able to stick to it. I hope you can make time for yourself today and give yourself a treat or five. Shower, tall cold drink, and several pats on the back, at least.

I have often thought I would love to find a publication that would list wild plants that are okay for ducks to eat as well as those that are definitely toxic. I am beginning a list, but it is not easy to find the information, certainly not all together.

Katharinad~ I heard all about that algea last summer when dogs started dying up here around Elk Creek. People thought at first that they were being poisoned. Nasty stuff, I hope our creek never has an outbreak of that. Some people think it is linked to the fertilizer used by the lumber companies, who knows. Thanks for taking the time to look up the Nightshade information. That whole area will eventually be turned into a pond and so all the greenery there will be gone. Our plan is to let the ducks help clear it out initially, and then move the yard again, and do the excavation, ect.. And once it is set up the ducks can have it back and we will only take them off when the area appears to need a rest. I also plan to use it for garden water, since at this point I do not have enough to irrigate with.

Amiga~ OH yeah, I will be hitting the shower tonight.

I forfieted it for the ducks yesterday...LOL, if they only knew, they would never run away..LOL. We are collecting water from a seperate underground spring that becomes very low in its output this time of year. We are very careful on how we manage the water, but we had a pipe break and it seems that once we loose it, it is very hard to get it back. My husband thought he had the leak fixed, but the seal didn't take and it is leaking again. We are going to have the entire system redone very soon, and it will be such a relief.
