I have purchased 10 stain less steel nipples from farmtek. Ive heard that they are really good but i have had some leaking.

The nipple is touched by a quail and after it stops drinking the nipple keeps on dripping water out. What would be the best way to fix this problem?

Thanks,
RiRs

There are several things that could be going wrong here so check them all to correct the individual or common problems.

I am going to assume that these are three part nipples.

The most likely thing is particles of some sort in the water and getting in between the two sealing surfaces. If the nipples were not installed with tapered end of the "plug" (uppermost part of the assembly) inserted into the nipple body first this problem could be especially aggravated.

Most likely cause is pipe that came to you with dirt inside. Dust from the storage yard. Ends jambed into the dirt when the pipes were handled. It might also have occured when you fabricated the system. What could have gotten in there? Maybe particles of the pipe itself when you cut it, especially if you used a saw.

Some medications in combination with other things in the water can cause granules to form and create all sorts of problems. If the system is old (I think not) there might even be mineral build up.

Did you hapen to use any substances when threading in the nipples? Lubricants come to mind. Some can change charachteristics and gum up the works when in contact with water.

Another thing to check is are the nipples in a very near verticile orientation?

Its a brand new system.
I think the problem it that i have them hucked up to a pipe that fits the nipple.
I going to start a pvc type of system and use cylcon glue to hold them in place.

sorry for the spelling of glue dont know how to spell that.

The nipples I purchased were threaded and when I taped them into the pipe they leaked alittle so I purchased a rubber o-ringand put it in between the pipe and the nipple. The leak stoped.
I've also heard if you have hard waterthey will efect the stainless steel nipples.
The orange ones are made of duralean and hard water doesn't effect them. (that's what I was told.)

I use these with no problem, so far so good.

What size pvc did you use were the nipples are?
I scared i will put to big of a pip and then the little pins get lost in the pvc.

Thanks,
RiRs
