Nipple waterer screw-in or push-in? & what kind of heater?

I ordered the screw-in type last night on eBay...got a pack of 10 of them for $6.45 free shipping.

Now I'm wondering if I need the push-in type. I'm gonna use 5-gallon buckets.

How do I get in touch with Neil here on BYC to order his? His PM is full. I sent him an e-mail through here, but not sure if it went through. I also sent him an e-mail directly to his e-mail address that was posted in a thread & got returned e-mail on it.

A website that was posted on here for him showed up in Japanese or something...maybe just not compatible with iPad?

I just don't know how to get in touch with him to order.

Oh, & what do you use in this set-up to keep water from freezing? If so, post a picture and/or put specs like wattage & such & if it needs a thermocube as well. Thanks!

I don't have any answers for you, but I'm right there with you trying to figure out the same thing! I bought 3 screw in nipples off amazon that are working well, we did wrap plumbers tape around them when we screwed them in since feedback suggested that. No leaks. My poor silkies are getting their heads soaked in the water dish so I'm trying to teach them to use the nipples instead. Also using a 5 gallon bucket. I just picked up a nice outdoor extension cord and 250watt bird bath heater.

that it will work! Our winters can get darn cold.

Yeah, I thought some of the de-icers were overboard that are more geared at stock tanks, and I read that fish tank heaters are typically too low of wattage, making them a shock risk. They also fry easily if the water level gets low, and they would require a lot more water depth than a bird bath heater. Sooooo bird bath heater I decided on. I just bought it today actually. It's an API bucket/utility/bird bath de-icer, 250w, that's good for up to 25 gallons. It was under $35 at my local farm store. I'm hoping it works good. It looks like just what I need to keep my silkies from having popsicle locks.
