Nipple waterer, Why did I not do this before... (Video)

Would it work to put an aquarium heater in the bucket or would that not be warm enough to keep the pipe from freezeing/ Or could you wrap a heat tape around the pipe to keep it thawed for the winter?

I used to work at a chicken farm and they used the nipple waterers, they are great! Wish I could go snag a few from them, lol.

The pipe has a threaded male end on it stuck through the bucket and a threaded female coupler on the inside. It just screws together through the bucket.

Any way you can post pictures of that??? I think I will get my nipples from Farmtek today, have the bucket, have the PVC pipe, but I'm still lost on attaching the PVC to the bucket. I bought a coupler of some sort but I'm no plumber and I'm really not sure if what I got will work for this application.

This on the pipe...

I put silicone sealant on the threads and around the hole I drilled in the bucket so it wouldn't leak but it can easily be unscrewed for cleaning if needed. With a lid on the bucket with one small 1/8th inch air hole it has stayed perfectly clean so far though. I doubt cleaning is needed very often.

Has anyone found a better place to buy these in small quantities? Hummmm?

I am sure that Neil cannot say "Buy from me!" but I just ordered six of them him. The nipples were $1.55 and the shipping was a whopping $2.65. You will not find that at the other companies. Just a good way to support those on the board.

The more I hear about them I can't wait to try them

I can't speak from experience, but I suppose they might over time. However, the nipples are cheap, so you might just keep a few on hand. Also, if you get the screw in kind, you ought to be able to take them out and soak them in vinegar to get the mineral deposits off if they start to clog.
