Nipple waterers

Hamster waterers will work fine, I'm using 1/2 gallon "Water Wells" from TSC. I've got 3, one of them is leaking though, the lid isn't seating correctly right now - this is why I'm glad I have three, I have two sets of chickens and the 3rd is a reserve. I'll have to figure out what's going on tomorrow. The chickens love them though, and there's no muddy mess, no poopy water, it's great.

I may try a hamster waterer for my chicks. I was wanting to use nipple, but dont want to take a chance on making a mess.

I use hamster waterers for my chicks, it's much cleaner cause they can't kick shavings and poo into their water. The water bottles do always drip a little bit though. When the chicks peck they don't get all the water that drips out. Some chicks make more of a mess than others. It's not enough to soak the brooder but you do have to check and change the shavings under it every day or so...
