Hi,

I am trying to train my chicks to use the nipple waterers that we just put in the run. So far, I have not so much as seen them look at it. Does anyone have any suggestions for training them to use these? Also, how many nipples per chick is recommended?

Thank you,

Alec

Hi, they should all just eventually cotton on to the fact the nipples contain water, you can tap them a little to encourage water to come out and the chicks to investigate, make sure they do not have any access to any other water, or they may take longer to investigate. I find most birds just naturally attracted to the shiny bits peck it and then realise it gives water, as for how many you need per chick I'm not sure not many I'm sure as they will all take turns.

Thanks fit the reply. The main water was accidentally left out of the run for a few minutes. And sure enough some of them found the nipple waterers. Once I put the water bowl back in they went for the easy water source. I also think I need to add more nipples as there was a waiting line.

Thanks again.
