nipple waterers

my chickens will not touch my nipple water they have the pan and reg. waterers, I would like to get them to use the nipples as it is so much cleaner
I have it placed at about head level, they don't show any interest at all

have you removed the other waterers?

no I have not, someone told me not to, bad advice huh?
will do that tomorrow, it isn't supposed to be to warm

I have to agree to remove the other waterers. They will find the water. I also found that tapping the nipple so it makes a sound and even get it to place a drop of water on my finger so I can show them that water does come out helps get the chickens curious about the new water device. Once one of the chickens figures it out the rest will follow. I only use nipples and have never had an issue with day old chicks to adults figuring out where to get their water.

Remove the other waterers. Once the most thirsty of the bunch finds the water, the rest will come running. Bet it takes less than 20 minutes. Let us know!

will do, thanks, I tried bumping the nipple with my finger and getting them to drip a little but they just looked at it and laughed
So as I have had it hanging out there for a couple weeks I will go change the water and take the other water away, is head high sufficient or should I put it up higher?

I place mine slightly above their heads so they have to reach just a little bit. I find that more water makes it to the floor if they have to duck to drink.

I took a couple of my Buff's over to the nipple and showed them by touching it and they took right to it. After that it was chicken see chicken do the rest followed. Oh and remove the other water in the coop. I love it no nasty water to clean up everyday.

well my chickens still have not touched the nipples, I keep going out and tapping letting it drip, they keep ignoring me,

If they have no other access to water they will take to the nipples just give them time, it is still early days as you had other water in there with them to begin with that is the reason why they ignored the nipples.
