Nipple watering?

I think they got it today. We'll see when they come out into the run tomorrow when they all usually take a big drink.

I took the water bowl out. Then smeared some peanut butter around them so they'd peck at it.

I'm surprised really you had to smear anything on it. Mine got it pretty quickly, and once one of them gets it, all the others have to come check it out.

I too made a one gallon for the brooder and a three gallon for the coop. I'm currently looking for a food grade barrel I can make a permanent 50 gallon or so tank feeding some pvc lines with the nipples.

Oh, I also made a couple with coke bottles, and hung them in the brooder in a wall mounted shampoo holder

I will take a pic this afternoon but I made a waterer with a Gatorade bottle for my brooder. I bought some new chicks and need my 3 week olds waterer for the new ones. So I grabbed some vertical nipples and drilled a hole in the cap. Screwed in the nipple. Drilled two holes in the walls of the Rubbermaid container they are in and used a piece of para cord to tie the Gatorade bottle up. I finished this up around 11 last night. I went to bed and woke up this morning at 340 and they were already all drinking from it

I was using mine in the brooder (wood shaving bedding) but I found the drips to be to much and the bedding got wet. I'll wait until they go out in the grass to put the nipple waterers to use.

Chicks love the nipple now. They had no problems getting used to it. I'm hoping they catch on just as fast to the horizontal ones. I just got those in the mail today. Going to be working on a pvc system for that. Will update later on that with pics
