Hi folks,

I've lost my favorite girl in March earlier this year and another girl that was dear to me about three weeks ago to hawks. I've seen them circling above my yard from time to time and just today some a**hole hawk swooped down just 10' over my head. I live in the city therefore I can only have a handful of chickens, so every time we lose one, it's a huge hit for us.

The flock usually free ranges all day and gets locked up at night so it breaks my heart to keep them imprisoned in their run. An ideal solution would allow them to safely free range all day without supervision. I've read that some people have had success using homemade disco balls to deter hawks. I was wondering if anyone on here has had similar success with Nite Guard's Repellent Tape. I just ordered a roll of 100' and I hope it does the trick.

I've had the best luck with hawk netting. Cover as much of an area you can...target open ground areas as much as possible.

Then reflective tape is helpful...or simply reflective cd's.

I've cut down on hawk loss a lot with bird netting.

Let us know how it works out......tho if you were standing right there, not sure sparkly tape will deter them for long if at all.

I'd keep them locked up for at least a week, that hawk will probably be back for more
