My daughter 3 years old got into the chickens room where their box is where she proceeded to get one wet by "giving it a bath" in some soap water. After my mother found her, when she as supposed to be watching her she tried to dry her off with a hairdryer, now she is lethargic, dropping down slowly head first, waling wobbly when forced, eyes mostly staying closed, sometimes she is also gasping, I have her seperated in a little box but, still in the box. I gave her pedialite mixed with tri-vi-sol baby vitamins in a dropper but, when I tried getting her to eat a piece of feed and she wouldn't. I put it in her mouth, she wouldn't even acknowledge it was there so I looked down her throat and she has grey fluid up to her throat. The pedialite is orange. What should I Do?? She is only 4 days old. I tried putting her inside my bra for a little while to keep her warm thinking I'm 98.7 degrees would this be a good thing? Sorry if this is too much info....

Wow, im so sorry this happened. It sounds to me like the chick might have asperated some soapy water. Keep her warm....and hope for the best. I know for new born pups, you can hold them upsidedown, and swing them in a backwards position. Not sure if this will hurt the chick tho.

Hope all turns out well.

She took a poop now and it was dark green, could this mean anything? I wonder... She seems to be perking up a little but, I guess I'll just have to pray and keep a close eye on her. The contents of her throat seemed to have went down now... I'm trying to keep my hopes up. I'm sure I'll stay up late with her and probably get up again periodicly to give her pedialyte or water with a dropper.

I don't recommend you forcing any liquid down her throat or she just may aspirate. Keep her warm and let her be. Chicks need time to deal w/ a near drowning experience. If she pooped that is a good thing. Make sure she access to fresh food and water and give her time. I mean really would you be thirsty?

Well, she officially passed about 15 minutes ago. She was gasping, non responsive, completely relaxed, breathing shallow and fast, eyes closed. She had a clicking noise when she breathed so I think she aspirated. I hope I wasn't responsible for this

She finally started going through the death twitches for a few minutes and was gone. I will give her a good burial I guess
