I was more shocked by all the coppering he got.That actually makes sense, since lavender orpingtons are genetically black with two copies of the lavender gene. The lavender gene is recessive, so any offspring of a lavender orp with a non-lavender chicken wouldn’t be lavender (unless that non-lavender chicken carried the gene).
