I hope you decide to get some chickens!!! They are a little work, but it pays off... they are a blast to have around!!!
 
Thanks for all the warm welcomes! I never knew there were so many chicken enthusiasts out there :) I'm looking into all my options. I have a feeling if I call the township they will say no. The local ordinance outlines the requirements for "poultry" as needing a minimum of an acre. Our property is on a half acre :( I was hoping there was a difference between a pet chicken and farm animals.
