No chickens yet

Thanks....I am planning to mix my flock as well. 3 standard and 2 bantams...possibly a 4th standard after I see how all will fit. I think I will have plenty off room in the coop...but want to make sure there is room enough in the run area.
10 square feet per bird in the run... 4.5-5 for the coop.;)

Coop needs to be close to if not more than 4 square foot per bird...
A little smaller may work for the bantams.

The measurement part gets confusing...so if the coop/run combo I am getting is 10 × 6 with the coop being 4× 6 and the run 6 × 6 plus the remainder of 4 × 6 under the coop ...how many chickens can I have...

Welcome to byc we are so happy to have you! You will love this site it is so so informative and fun I know so much about chickens and I only started a few months ago! I honestly believe you will love it here and I hope you feel welcome

Welcome to BYC your measurements of your coop are 4x6=24 square feet
Giving your in the north like I am give them 5 square foot per bird. SO your coop would hold 5 birds. Remember winter is when they will have the least amount of room so I wouldn't try squeezing any more chickens in there. Make sure you have enough perches for the chickens to roost at night also. If you could go bigger on your coop. I would go to 6x6 and keep your 5 or 6 chicken as your count giving them a little extra room to move around in the coop when its snowing and so bitter cold outside. You want to give them room so there is no problems later on from being to crowded.
