They are both definitely cockerels

Although the first one's gender was more obvious, the second has a couple shiny and pointed saddle feathers which always indicate cockerel.

Your eyes are obviously better than mine. I'm not seeing any pointed cockerel saddle feathers. )

You can see them, I still can't. Seriously. but I'm perfectly willing to accept it's my eyesight--no wait, it's my monitor! my monitor is blocking saddle feathers!

I enlarged the photo the first time and didn't see them. I've done it a 2nd time and still don't see them. But as I stated in my post, I'm sure your eyes are better than mine.

I can't see any male saddle feathers on the dark one, or at least I can't see them clearly enough for me to say with certainty. There might be a few questionable feathers, but I need a much clearer shot to be sure. It's hard to make out the detail when the feathers are all the same color.
