I went to Walter Anderson's Nursery yesterday to pick up a box of DE for the yard. I couldn't find it on the usual shelf.
They garden guy said "It's illegal in california becaus it may cause cancer."
I'm like "What?!?! Y.G.B.F.K.M! Cancer? are you SURE we are talking about the same thing? Comes in a box, White powder, ground up chalk, skeletons of Diatoms, Microscopic animals skeletons..."

"yep, may cause cancer..."

I said, "Well, we KNOW cigaretts cause cancer why not outlaw them? What the heck am I supposed to use to control flys now?"

Get this moron...."You can use Seven or other pestacides."

I'm like "WHAT????? Poison? on my whole yard? with my chickens nearby? YGBFKM?!?!?!?! POISON is safe to use but ground up chalk is outlawed!?!?!?!?! WTFO? YGBFKM?!?!?!"
And I left.


I'm loosing my mind on this one.

My point is I don't want to use pestacides. If I can't use it IN my chickens I don't want to use it ON my chickens....Or in the yard.

The gov't will let them smoke even though they KNOW FOR A FACT they will die from it. But then outlaw a harmless substance because some fool was breathing it in.
You can also get silicosis from breathing sand dust, Are they going to outlaw SAND next?
I can see the headlines "OK, Americans are sooooo stupid we are going to close ALL beaches, Deserts, and playgrounds..."

I was pretty specific in my discription (white powder, skeletons of tiny animals, like ground up chalk) he knew exactly what I was talking about. I think maybe Walter Andersons stopped selling it because I think I was the only one who bought it.

The feed store I go to still has it and knows nothing of a statewide ban on DE, So I guess it's afalse alarm.

By the way, the AG dept put me on hold then hung up on me twice. I feel like driving down there to poke that guy in the eye.

I wish I could get paid to be useless too!
