My girls are 3 1/2 years old and stopped laying, I want to say 2 months ago - maybe less. I know it is winter, and they are molten, but with it being that long, I figured they were done laying.

Since it is colder, we've been putting the red heat lamp on from 6p - 6a. I just got another egg - normal? Not normal? Also, i don't want to overwork them, and I thought the red lamp is just for heat, they won't be stimulated, but I'm thinking that's not right??

Normal. Older hens don't lay very steadily, most of the time. Your birds were probably just molting, and are now starting to lay again. Don't expect many eggs over the winter, however.
