No eggs for a few months now

I can respect your stance on keeping them. I had a leghorn that I was very fond of, though a raccoon got her recently. Before her untimely demise, I had every intention of keeping her around until she kicked the bucket. I loved her personality.

Good luck with the egg hunt! I wouldn't be surprised if they start laying again at some point

I am sorry about your favorite hen, I had one like that too, she was so adorable she would follow me all over and the minute I sat down she would jump up on my lap. She was small half banty and half ploish. A fox got her.

I do not judge anyone their choice of keeping an animal or not. That would be hypocritical of me since I do eat chickens on ocasson, I just can't eat mine.

I have a feeling you are right that I will find an eggs again even if it is just once in awhile.. I hope so I love the whole idea of having an egg that was just laid. I would have more but I am getting to the age I want to outlive my animals, I would hate to leave any behind to starve.
Thank you Redlll

I have Silver Laced And Blue Laced Red Wyandottes That are almost 2 years old. They stopped laying about 2 months ago and I have only gotten 1 egg since then. I expect them to start laying again once the days get a little longer. I'm not sure what you have fed yours all along but my grandfather told me if you feed them layer year round they will only lay for about 2 years but if you feed them corn they will lay for about 7 years but not near as regular. You have done well either way to get 5 years out of them.

Thanks, they are well feed and I give thme lots of corn and scratch, along with the layer pellets.
They can dig away at my compost pile eating all the yummy worms.
I also give them lots of attention and they are never hungry I toss alot of good raw and cooked food and sprouts I grow for them.
I am hopeful that they will give a little more for me.

Hens need 14 hours of light to stimulate laying. They should pick up again as the days lengthen. About the corn as sole feed. There are scrappy chickens who can sustain themselves from gleaning extras from a rich barnyard. My wyandottes would starve though. My lawn doesn't provide enough of the proteins, vitamins and minerals to maintain healthy birds.

Thanks but I know all about the 14 hour days but this never happened before I am not new to chickens, the most my girls ever went without laying was three days, one or another laid an egg, my question is why are they all stoppng at the same time, and for so llong, since this has never happened to me. and I never said I use only corn, that is not nutritious enough, I use layer pellets as I said in my last post

I guess no one has the answer to my question,. Thanks everyone for trying.

I see you are new and this is not the nice thing to do,. what is so funny ? I am having a problem that is not somethinig we laugh at.

"Factors Affecting Egg Production in Backyard Chicken Flocks" at http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/ps029 has a collection of about 30 possible causes of egg laying problems. Maybe you can find something in there that fits.

Your hens' case is mysterious! How frustrating it must be for you.

Thanks so much Speckled hills, I will check that out right now, and it is a mysterious, one would be normal maybe even two but fpr three to stop exactly at the same time is weird. But as some say it may start and I may get an occasional egg now and again, that I can live with.
