24 of my 27 hens stopped laying 2 days ago is this normal? the weather did cool down from the 70 s at night to the 50s but they have a nice house, and the temps are still close to 80s in the daytime.

Welcome! Several things could be happening here. Are any molting? Laying eggs outside while they range? Some stress; food change, fearsome visitor, weather change? Not enough light? Laying hens tend to slow down or stop production with fewer than fourteen hours of daylight; a light bulb in the coop on a timer, 4 am to 8 am every day, will fix that. Mary

my Rooster isn't as vocal as he was either, the are in a 16 x 40 run with a 12x16 x 10 building.

I have 18 hens who were giving us 2 dozen eggs every other day until Hurricane Irma flew thru. It was awful. They were in their coop during the storm. I had to clean out all the shavings cause it was all wet and they didn't like that either. They were definitely stressed. Now some of them are molting and, long story short I am only getting 3-5 eggs a day. Plus you say the lack of daylight could be a problem. My goodness, I am batting zero here. How long will it take before they produce again, if they ever do! They were pretty traumatized. So were we!

Welcome (again?)! You are all alive! They will start to lay eggs again when they are ready, and not before. Using a small light on a times will help, but any birds who are molting will not be laying eggs until that's done. Good food and time, and no more hurricanes... Mary

Thank you Mary. I feel bad they are so stressed. But, we will pamper them some more and be happy they are still alive!
