I had 10 chickens. A coyote got in our yard and killed two, and another day a third. We are on hyper alert now, and changing the yard, etc. But since this happened I only get one egg per day. These chickens are different ages, the oldest three years and the youngest just under one. I am so confused. I would accept any help!! I have seven chickens that are pets.I will keep them as pets, but can we change this?

Some times an event like a predator attack can stop them laying. Many birds are molting this time of year also, and they will stop laying. Are you seeing a lot of feathers in your coop or yard? Shorter days can stop them laying also. Not much you can do to get them going again, they will when they are ready. Sorry for your losses.

I was fairly sure it was the scare that did it. We have found a couple of weird things. On chicken had what appeared to be an egg and poo in her vent. We cleaned it and she is fine, Also, someone laid a beige poop that actually looked like a dog poo in a nest??
Thanks for the input. Yes we lost three lovely birds.
