So I have 15 chickens, 8 I bought from Cackle and they are Great... they were hatched on August 2. I added 2 Older pullets to the coop which I think were maybe 2 months older than the chicks. One of them is a Polish, she was acting weird maybe 2 weeks ago so I thought maybe time for some eggs, I opened up 1 of the nest boxes I have blocked and No eggs. I feed them High protein(21%) feed and supplement with live meal worms daily that I grow myself. Any advice on if I should do anything or just continue to be patient would be helpful... Thanks

Are their combs red and are they squatting for you? If yes, they may have a hidden nest possibly or are just really close to laying.
Pink combs and wattles means they are not ready to lay yet.
The first eggs from my young birds were in the bedding by the food dish. Oops, lol. They are getting pretty good about using the nest boxes now. The first eggs from the first flock of chicks I got were laid in a nest they they scraped out in the run in the leaves and grass clippings :hmm

Over the weekend was the shortest day of the year. As daylight starts increasing, so does your chance of getting eggs. As long as everyone is eating, drinking, pooping, acting normal/healthy, don't worry, try and be patient and the eggs will come eventually. Honestly I would not expect a bird hatched in August to be laying right now, especially with the short days.

Thanks for the responses... their combs are red, they are happy and healthy, I do not let them range free but in a fenced area so they are not hiding them. I would put the two older pullets about 7 months and was expecting something... At 49 cents a dozen from ALDI I am good for now... I am Santa Claus on Steroids when I come out with a cup of mealworms, could probably train them to roll over lay down and play dead :D... Thanks
