my chickens just stop laying eggs all of a sudden. is this normal for this time of year? I have buff orpington chicken 2 years old, what can I do. thanks

Do you only have one hen?

The chickens could be going through a molt, have lice/mites, be sick, have gone broody, started hiding their eggs, or responding to the change in daylight.

We need more info!

You can do a search on BYC, or look in the Learning Center. Also, I beleive Speckled Hen has a thread called "Why did my hens stop laying?" or something similar. I'd find it for you, but I am at work and the internet just cant handle two whole windows open.

I have 5 buffs and they always lay alot. now they just stopped. I dont have a rooster

It's fall. If they are year old hens, they likely have endured a moult brought on by autumn. Chickens don't lay everyday and most breeds only lay seasonally at a meaningful rate. Do you provide additional lighting? Have you considered whether you might or might not wish to do this?
