No Eggs?

Hi, umm, ok, so straight to the point. I currently have 2 easter egger hens that are about 19weeks old and still no eggs from them. I also have 3 silkie hens that are about 21weeks old and no eggs from them either. How do I tell if theyre going to start laying soon? And they also dont like gettin in their nesting boxes so what do I do if they wont lay their eggs in there? Thanks

My Easter Eggers were very late layers and I mean the one didn't start laying until 24-26 weeks. When they are ready they will start to check out your nesting boxes and sometimes their first egg just gets plopped in the coop somewhere or in the run since they don't really know what is happening the first time or so. I got plastic eggs and even round rocks that I put in the nesting boxes so they would know the eggs go in there. This helped and I haven't really had a problem with them laying their boxes. Just keep the boxes clean with lots of bedding. Good luck!
