no eggs?

a month ago i got a chicken who i dont know its age. the previous owners told me that she layed pretty much every day. the first day i had her, she laid an egg but none since. it has been a month. is this normal? will she ever lay? any info would be much appreciated. thanks!

Any feathers laying around? With the shorter days, this is the time of year that older hens molt. They generally don't lay eggs while they are molting.

Then she is molting. Increase her protein with cooked eggs, meat scraps, mealworms, etc to help her get through her molt quicker. It will take 2-4 months for her to get back to laying. She needs to grow all her feathers back in, then get her body weight back up, then she will lay again.
