Can someone give me any help here please, I purchased 2 Warrens 5 weeks and 3 days ago, when I bought them I was told they are at POL well so far no eggs! They have a good home, layer pellets plenty of fresh water and good supply of greens and the odd scattering of corn as a treat basically they have the full 5 star treatment but up to now no return!! Can anyone tell me if I am doing anything wrong and how much longer I may have to wait.thanks

So how old are your birds? They should lay around 25 weeks, give or take.

If you bought them from a pet store or produce store. Point of lay can be anywhere from about 15 weeks of age on. I don't know what warrens are but if they are like isa browns should start to lay any time in the next few weeks I would guess.. Chickens are fussy things and even if they are laying moving them can make them go off the lay for a few weeks.

Hello :frow Welcome to BYC and Happy Holidays! X2 what is considered point of lay can have a pretty big range, with most red sex links they expect most to be laying by 24 weeks, so hopefully your girls will start up pretty soon. Moving pullets to a new home will also set them back sometimes, even if they were already laying.

Welcome to BYC! As others have said it can range. Sit tight and hope for the next few weeks. I've had birds wait until 30 weeks to lay an egg, yikes!

You could put a plastic egg, or golf ball into each nest box - so they realize that is where eggs should go. I don't know if they should be on layer feed before they actually start laying.

If you have a mixed flock, different age birds from chicks on up, roosters and hens together etc. You could feed Grower feed and have a separate container for oyster shell , so only the hens that feel they need it will ingest any. Young chicks and roosters shouldn't have layer feed - too much calcium for them.
