the finger thing is the bones there at the bottom of the vent if they are getting ready to lay should be at least 2 fingers wide. pick the pullet up and like you are holding her backwards with your hand under her belly and put your fingers toward her vent not in it but under where her bones meet mine are still 1 finger wide between the bones
